We continue to publish our series of guides for the foreign guests of 2018 FIFA World Cup. Today we will speak about the nightlife of Yekaterinburg and remove from the secret list some bars. You will find out where to drink craft beer or liquor, where to dance all night or to sing karaoke. Places for different tastes are in our report today.
«A place for a friendly conversation»
Craft bar «Nel’son Sovin» got its name because of New Zealand’s hops, that’s why this sort of beer is always available in the bar. You will be pleasantly surprised by the biggest range of varieties — about 30 sorts of draft beers from breweries all around the world and 300 types of bottled beer. Great admirers of new tastes and nightlife will highly appreciate this place. Also, creators of the bar assure that this will be a good place as for the crazy parties as for the cozy evening with granny. Without doubts, here you will be served the most unusual sorts of beer. The bar exclusively represents young Swedish brewery «Poppels Bryggeri», so don’t miss the chance to taste its beer. And on top of that «Nel’son Sovin» has got more than 30 sorts of ciders from Spain, Normand and England. Pickled quail eggs will be served as a snack.
The first Ural craft bar «Jaws Spot» is very popular among students and hipsters. Externally it looks like old-school Soviet beer bar — several wooden tables and benches, but here people look for the beer novelties of Ural’s brewery in Zarechnyj — the motherland of atomic station in Beloyarka. Production of beer was opened in a building of an old laundry (prachechnaya), that’s where the name of the first IPA comes from — «Atomnaya Prachechnaya» («Atomic Laundry»). You certainly need to taste it, the bitterness of the beer is compared with an atomic explosion. From time to time on Saturdays you can take an excursion bus to Zarechnyj to see the process of beer production and taste some sorts. The cost of such trip is 700 rubles per person. «Dom Pechati» («The Press House») — the best Yekaterinburg’s club under the version of «The Guardian». It perfectly combines two-storeyed lounge restaurant, bar and a concert hall. During weekdays jazz is played here and on weekends it is a good place to listen to Russian and foreign stars, but don’t forget to check the schedule and buy a ticket — the places are limited. The guests are interested in the loft interior of the restaurant — large, hanging from the ceiling chandeliers, a carpet in the middle of a dance floor and cozy, homelike sofas. A special charm of the place is the history — «Dom Pechati» is located in the building of an old printing house «Ural’skiy Rabochiy», where the newspaper of the same name was published for hundred years.
«Secret places of Yekaterinburg»
Visiting one of the most fashionable places of the Yekaterinburg «Shalom Shanghai» seems like a quest. To enter the bar in the basement you need to find such places as pizzeria «Faya» or restaurant «Gastroli» first. Unofficial name of the bar «underground» seems reasonable — old brick walls, darkness and candles. On Sundays and Mondays the bar is closed, during weekdays it is a good place for a friendly conversation and on Fridays and Saturdays the bar welcomes you for the unstoppable parties. Here you can meet Moscow DJs and the most shocking and scandalous party makers of the Yekaterinburg. By all means you should taste liquors made from lavender, mango or blue Thai tee. The top snacks are bao buns or Chinese hamburgers, which are cooked from rice flour on a steam.

One more secret underground bar is «Mizantrop». It is hidden by the simple iron door with a big keyhole. There are no signboards, the only guideline is a crowd of smoking hipsters. If you want to get in — you should knock on the door. Inside there are benches, sofas and several areas with different music, small dance floor and portrait of Bill Murray wearing Kusto’s hat. Also, you may order a cheap beer. «Mizantrop» attracts creative youngsters of the city — musicians, journalists, advertisers, poets and artists.

The old-timers among the secret bars in the Yekaterinburg is a musical cocktail cozy «New Bar» which is located for already 8 years in an attic in the center of Yekaterinburg. During weekdays it is a place to listen to live music, watch films and play table football. At weekends — to dance and to listen to local DJ’s. The interior is homelike: few space, sofas, armchairs and a fireplace, also, warming drinks and friendly barmen. The entrance is in the back of the shopping center «Mytnyj Dvor». That is not all — next, you will need to find a hidden signboard and go upstairs till the top floor. We recommend you to taste famous liquor «Belochka» («Squirrel») made of nuts.

«Glamorous dances»
For wild dances you should visit extravagant city clubs. «On Cabaret» prepares new «Russian» program and menu especially for the guests of 2018 FIFA World Cup. You should certainly taste the well-known cocktail of French Riviera «Ice Trope». Tired of Cabaret — just go downstairs to «On Bar» — to drink and dance. «On Bar» is a place for wealthy people - Moët & Chandon never stops flowing. 1800 — is the number of bottles sold in a year and a half.
«Center Club» — elite club recently opened in Yeltsin Centre. Tat’yana Yumasheva, daughter of the first president, visited the opening party with her famous Moscow friends — actors and designers. «Center Club» is divided into various areas: karaoke, bar and a stage with dance floor. Moscow VIPs like to visit parties here. «Center Club» is also a concert hall for Russian and foreign stars. A 30-year-old prefers karaoke and hookahs. If you want to be in a spotlight you should definitely visit this place.
«Siniy Zhuk» («Blue Bug») — is another «gemstone» in a club life of Yekaterinburg. Freak-show, crazy parties and karaoke make the place one of the most important clubs in the city. On the stage of «Siniy Zhuk» are held so-called pre-parties — cabaret shows with glittering decorations, interactions with performers and many kinds of cocktails — in a word everything is made in the best traditions of European clubs.

The last place on our map is «Alibi» that stands aside from all other places. «Alibi» is situated in the center of the Yekaterinburg on the first floor of the hotel. During his 9-years history it became well known for its crazy parties. Best-known city barmen and Russian music hits of 1990-th and 2000-th — all these things are in «Alibi». The guests of the bar know all the popular hits by heart and like to sing out loud. Creator of the bar highly recommends the legendary cocktail that is called «Pashina kh…nya» («Pasha’s Bullshit»). Long ago co-founder of the bar Pasha brought from the trip to Finland the recipe of a cocktail with grapefruit vodka and nobody knew its name. Pasha ordered only that cocktail and since that time the cocktail became very popular. The guests often asked barman to make the bullshit that Pasha likes to drink. Now the cocktail is not in the menu, but if you name it to the barmen you will be lucky to taste it.
